Green Army NY Announces Creation and Call to Arms
Support Marijuana Legalization & Taxation in New York.
Hig Thimes.com Jun 22, 2009
Change is due in New York. Green Army NY is here to bring voice to the millions of New Yorkers who use marijuana. We want to broaden the discussion on marijuana legalization and taxation. Too long has revenue been lost and money wasted.
Green Army was founded to prove to New York’s elected officials that the population is unhappy with the current legislation. Legalization of marijuana for medical use is at the top of the list. We know the science is there to show marijuana’s benefits to the terminally ill; all we need is the voice to let it be heard. Green Army NY’s decriminalization campaign will also use its platform to help unclog NY’s overburdened justice system – in most cases there is no reason a nonviolent user of marijuana should be incarcerated. Lastly we fully support the idea of taxation on regulated marijuana. Marijuana taxation could be an incredible source of revenue for the state; the revenue alone could help alleviate the high tax rates, for example income, property and sales taxes. Too many New Yorkers are being forced to make the decision on whether or not to relocate due to these high taxes.
New York is the battleground right now for marijuana legalization. Green Army NY should be seen as the vanguard, but we need Soldiers! For information on what else you can do, email Stephen Zadwydas at CommanderZadwydas at GreenArmyNY.org or Phil Noble at CommanderNoble at GreenArmyNY.org. Remember – NY is the battleground today, any rulings in our favor can be seen as precedent for your battle tomorrow!
The Green Army was founded May 16, 2009 in Bethpage, NY by Stephen Zadwydas and Philip Noble.
