Mitch Earleywine, a professor of psychology at the University of Southern California, and colleague Bruce Mirken, challenge the scare raised over ’marijuana with a high THC content’. They point out how this kinderschreck is created: first the police go on a campaign of arresting a lot more kids for blowing a joint, then the increased number of arrests is cited as proof of the increase in THC. ’Somewhere’, they say, ’George Orwell must be snickering’.
